End of Life for 3Shape CAM Server (clinics only)

Effective November 1, 2025, maintenance and support for CAM Server within 3Shape Studio Apps have been discontinued. CAM Server was replaced by 3Shape Produce for Studio Apps in September 2023. However, CAM Server will continue to be available in its current form within the Dental System workflow.

What is 3Shape Produce?
3Shape Produce is our next-generation CAM solution, offering a unified and seamless manufacturing experience across:

  • 3Shape Studio Apps*, Model Builder Express, Automate Crown and Automate Nightguard
  • Direct file transfer to integrated milling machines and 3D printers
  • STL file export via the Save to folder option

What’s the difference between CAM Server and 3Shape Produce?
3Shape Produce is the improved version of CAM Server. It features:

  • A new way of setting up and managing machines
  • Both milling machines and 3D printers are integrated with 3Shape software
  • Wider range of machines and materials
  • Improved job-sending and export processes with ability to track jobs
  • Ongoing enhancements and support (CAM Server will no longer receive updates)

Will all CAM Server features be available in 3Shape Produce?

  • Manufacturing steps (e.g., design placement, toolpath, print strategy) are fully handled by the experts in the field – providers of the manufacturing software.
  • Most machines previously integrated with CAM Server are now available in 3Shape Produce.
    NOTE: most of not supported machines are either in maintenance or not sold by the manufacturer anymore. See more in “Trusted Connections EOL”.
  • Some manufacturers have chosen not to maintain integration in 3Shape Produce, but the user will be able to export designs in STL to proceed with manufacturing.
  • More machines and materials  are continuously being added.

Next Steps

Users with TRIOS Design Studio version 2022.2.6 or below installed with CAM Server can proceed with installation 1 of 2 ways:

  1. Upgrade to 3Shape Produce to benefit from a wider range of supported machines, indications and materials.
     
  2. Continue using CAM Server as is. It is important to note:
    • If the user upgrades Unite or any other 3Shape product, CAM Server will be replaced by 3Shape Produce permanently.
    • Software upgrades cannot be restricted or reverted and will be suggested for installation when available automatically.
