Additional Scans – how to use

Additional Scans is a powerful tool which allows users to import additional scans and use them as visual guides during the design process.

Let us consider additional scans during full dentures design. The additional scans tool is available at any stage in Dental Designer. The corresponding icon can be found on the right toolbar, Figure 1.

Pressing on this icon invokes Additional Scans, the interface of this tool is shown in Figure 2.

The purpose of buttons of this tool is the following:

Load – allows to load the scans;

Align -scans alignment with the main scans;

Save – allow to save any of the scans.

There are several possibilities of scans alignment, Figure 3:

Points – allows to use 1 point or 3 points alignment;

Selection – allows to define the area of alignment by points more precisely;

Move – allow to move the scan (position it in any direction)

It is also possible to sculpt additional scans during the design process. The corresponding tool can be found on the right toolbar. The icon and the interface of additional scans sculpt tool are shown in the Figure 4.
