Main Differences Between Red and Silver E-scanners
Cabinet
- Red ring instead of silver.
- Same dark-gray cabinet color for all scanners.
- Red straps on the package box differentiate Red E-scanners from Silver E-scanners.
Scan Time
- E1/E2/E3 Red scan time was improved by 20% due to the same tracking algorithm as Silver E4 and improved hardware.
- E4 Red scan time did not change compared to E4 Silver.
Scan time refers to the time during which the cameras capture images and the scanner axes are moving. The second phase of scanning, post-processing, is performed by ScanIt Dental software and depends on the current PC specifications, scan settings, and type of scan.
The new, faster triangulation algorithm in ScanIt Dental in Dental System 2020 is 100% GPU-based, with a backup CPU solution. It works with all scanners, not only Red E-scanners.

What Dental System Version Is Required for Red E-scanners?
- E1/E2/E3 Red work only with Dental System 2020 and ScanSuite 11.2.0 or higher.
- E4 Red works with Dental System 2019 and ScanSuite 11.0.0 or higher, the same as E4 Silver.
Can E1/E2/E3 Red Scanners Work at Reduced Speed in Dental System 2019?
No. Red scanner models are supported only by Dental System 2020 or higher. Using a previous version of Dental System will cause compatibility issues.
Are There Any Updates to E4 Red Compared to E4 Silver?
The only change for E4 is the cabinet, with a new red ring instead of silver. The tracking algorithms and scanning features are equivalent between the two models.
