Implant Validation Parameters: Dental System 2024 vs Dental System 2025

07 October 2025 | Updated 5.2.2026

Dental System continues to evolve its implant design workflows, and one of the key improvements in Dental System 2025 is the introduction of a new implant validation parameter that enhances control over how top cap height is measured in relation to the margin line.

Key Difference Between Versions

Dental System 2024

  • Top cap height is measured from the bottom of the margin line.
  • This behavior was introduced in version 24.1.0 and became the default for top cap measurement. No additional options for changing the measurement points were available.

Dental System 2025

  • A new parameter has been added:“Measure top cap height from the top of the margin line”
  • This parameter allows users to choose whether the top cap height is measured from the top or from the bottom of the margin line. This ensures better flexibility in designing implants on a difficult placement case.
  • By default, this parameter is set to “Off” for all libraries, unless changed to “On” by the library provider and locked for editing. If the library is not locked and fully customizable, the option can be changed at any time.

Parameters on the picture below show measurement options - measuring from the center point of the emergence profile with the option disabled (see A) and measuring from the upper part of the emergence profile pointing to implant direction - with the option enabled (see B).

Accurate top cap height measurement is critical for proper emergence profile and prosthetic fit. With the introduction of the new parameter, Dental System 2025 ensures, that some complex situations considering implant placement can be efficiently resolved.

It is recommended to update to Dental System 2025 to benefit from the possibility to choose preferred method of top cap height measurement.
